In a small workshop in Pakistan, the morning begins with a sound: the soft, steady tap of a chisel on sheesham. No machine and no hurry. Only a craftsman, a block of wood, and a skill his family has carried for generations.
Most of Pakistan never hears that sound. For a long time, neither did we.
Chapter 1 · Three People, One Belief
iDukan.pk began as an ordinary online store. Like so many others, we sold imported products. They sold well enough, but they said nothing about who we were or where we came from.
Fawad had spent years in content and digital marketing, working across the private and public sectors. Mamoon Khan brought what every young business needs and few ever find: someone who believes in it. He backed iDukan.pk with investment and strategy, and he has never stopped pushing the team toward the next level. Sohaib gives the brand its face, leading graphics, video and content strategy.
We had the skills, and we had the belief. What we lacked was a story worth telling.
Chapter 2 · Choosing the Handmade
We found that story close to home. In the small towns of Pakistan, karigars carved sheesham, set brass, and painted Naqashi with a mastery most of the country had never seen. Their work seldom travelled beyond the local market.
None of us came from a family of craftsmen. We had no workshop and no inherited trade. But we had something these karigars did not: the tools to carry their work far beyond the market. So we changed course. From then on, iDukan.pk would stand for the handmade, and for Made in Pakistan.
What We Keep Learning
The craft itself has barely changed in generations. The way it reaches you changes every few months. So we keep learning: new tools, new platforms, new ways to put a karigar's work in front of someone who will love it. Our artisans have given their lives to mastering their half of this. The least we can do is keep mastering ours.

Chapter 3 · The Hands We Work With
Billu Bhai is around forty, and he learned his craft from his uncle, in the same small workshop where he still works today.
Spend a few minutes in a workshop like his and you notice what no product photo can capture. Nothing is rushed. Every cut is a decision. Every curve carries the memory of the hands that taught it.
Many of our karigars learned from their fathers and grandfathers, artisans who brought these skills with them when they made Pakistan their home in 1947.
They left behind houses, fields and neighbours. What they carried was in their hands.
Nearly eighty years on, that inheritance is still alive, passed from father to son and uncle to nephew. When you hold something from iDukan.pk, you are holding hours of a karigar's day, and generations of his family's skill.

Chapter 4 · Earning Belief, One Order at a Time
Building an online business in Pakistan means asking strangers to trust you with their money, for something they cannot touch until it arrives. Our first order was the hardest we have ever won.
What We Got Wrong
We have made our share of mistakes, and the early years held most of them. We designed pieces we loved before asking which ones a home actually needed. So we learned to listen: to customers, to karigars, and to the quiet verdict of a piece that sells beside one that sits. Every correction has made the next piece better. We expect to keep making mistakes. We intend to keep learning faster than we make them.
Then came a moment we will never forget. A customer placed an order of more than Rs. 50,000 and paid half of the amount in advance, before he had seen a single item in person. For a young team fighting to be believed, it felt like being handed a key.
Chapter 5 · Welcomed Into Homes
Later, that same customer told us where everything had found its place: the drawing room, the TV lounge, the guest room. He had not simply bought from us. He had welcomed our karigars' work into every corner of his family's home.
Many of our pieces leave us as gifts, and more often than not, they are meant for mothers. One customer surprised her mother on Mother's Day. Another chose a piece for her sister's birthday.
We think about this often. A craftsman in Pakistan shapes a block of wood, and it becomes the way a daughter says thank you to her mother. That is never just an object. It is a small piece of Pakistan, made by hand and given with love.

Chapter 6 · From Pakistan to the World
Since 2023, more than 3,000 orders have carried our karigars' work into homes across Pakistan. Some of it has travelled further still, as far as the UK, with a longtime customer who took it to buyers there.
Pakistani craft does not need to be explained to be loved. It only needs to be seen.
One day, we want to carry it across the world ourselves, so that the quiet tap of a chisel in Pakistan is felt in homes everywhere.
The Longer Vision
Every order keeps a workshop busy for another day. That is the immediate work. The longer one is larger. Once iDukan.pk stands on firm ground, we intend to turn it toward people who have skill but no opportunity, the ones whose talent never finds a market. Craft has given our karigars a living. We would like it to give a living to many more. Along with this, the greater vision is to make our little contribution in Pakistan's education sector, which we think is a very basic requirement to be educated as a Pakistani, Muslim or a human being.
Our Promise
Everything we send carries three promises: it was handmade in Pakistan, made with care, and backed by us. Belief is how iDukan.pk began. Trust is what we keep earning, one order at a time.
Jo Banaye Har Ghar Ko Khaas.
